PROJECT: 2 x 1200kW 690V VSD and MCC designs including a new 33k/690V TX

We were approached by Rio Tinto provide Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Management of new upgraded facilities for two 1200kW Wirth pumps.

The project included:

  • Supply and installation of a new 33kV feeder.
  • Design and installation of a new 4MVA 33kV/690V Transformer and pad and earthing.
  • Design of a new 690V MCC with dual incomers (Star and Delta incomer) and dual feeders to each motor (Star and Delta feeder to the VSD and then to the motor)
  • Design of two new VSD’s with a common DC bus to supply each drive (Star
  • Supply of electrical labour for installation, project management and commissioning of the new systems.

Time Frame: Completion in 2020
