- Capture survey data for the planned route and contours (this can often be provided by the Clients own surveyors).
- Power Line Layout Mapping: Our team carefully maps out the layout and configuration of power lines, considering factors like cable routing, heritage sites, clearance zones, voltage drop, and safety regulations.
- Power Line modelling (typically with Neara software through PLS-Cadd can also be used). Modelling allows us to determine key OHL performance characteristics such as:
- OHL Tension / Sag
- Conductor ratings
- Pole loading and sink depths
- Stays required and design
- Chainage Lengths
- Pole configurations
- For Underground HV cable designs, we will use a combination of specialist software packages including an Electrotechnical design suite. The software allows accurate heating forecasts, configuration and ampacity limitations, screen fault current ratings and de-ratings considered for the area installed.
- Transformer and Switchgear Selection: Our experts select the appropriate transformers and switchgear, considering voltage levels, load requirements, and safety considerations.
- Earth grid designs, modelling and step/touch considerations.
- Lightning protection assessment and protection system designs.
- Detailed Design Scopes of Work: We develop a detailed scope of work (SOW) documents, including equipment analysis, component specifications, and a well-structured layout for the installer to reference and be guided by.
- Project Management: We oversee the entire project, ensuring timely completion, adherence to budget constraints, and adherence to stringent quality standards, and scope documents.
- Commissioning FAT and SAT: We conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) to verify the correct functioning and safety of the reticulation system.
